Feeling Alone

Feeling alone?
We all, at times, feel as if we’re the only people on earth.  We feel as if all have forsaken us from time to time.
I’m reminded of a story in Genesis chapter 21 which speaks of a woman named Hagar.  Yes, Hagar!
Genesis 21:16-1716 And she went, and sat her down over against him a good way off, as it were a bow shot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against him, and lift up her voice, and wept.
17 And God heard the voice of the lad; and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven, and said unto her, What aileth thee, Hagar? fear not; for God hath heard the voice of the lad where he is.
18 Arise, lift up the lad, and hold him in thine hand; for I will make him a great nation.
Hagar was forced to leave Abraham’s home to wander in the wilderness of Beersheba about 30 miles from Hebron. Like many single parents, she felt alone and forsaken. She felt the struggle of being a single parent trying to survive in the wilderness alone.  No true friends, forsaken by her family, she wondered if God even still cared about her.
You may be in a chapter of life that you feel helpless, hopeless, and alone. Your joy has seemed to fade into oblivion. Your laugh has cowered into the depth of your soul, and you don’t know where to turn.
Again, you may feel alone, but you’re not! God sees you. He hears your cries. He loves and cares for you. He can bring joy, laughter, and life back into your, well, life. God has a promise to restart and sustain you. He will see you through this dark valley of despair and will see you through your wilderness of Beersheba!
If this sounds like you, if you feel like Hagar, be of good cheer!  When you make it through this chapter, this wilderness, you will come out stronger than before you entered it.  Joy does come in the morning!
Remember, God has NOT left you alone. He knows where you are in this stage of life and He cares.
As we read the story, we see Hagar weeping in despair and her son laying there dying of thirst in the wilderness. While she lay there weeping, God heard their sorrow.
He hears and understands you as well and will never leave you alone.
Hebrews 13:5 - "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee."
