House of God

I love this verse here in Psalms (27:4), “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.” David wants to spend his entire life in the house of the Lord. He wants to be in that place where the Lord dwells and where His Presence is real. This reminds me of what David says over in Psalms 84:1-4, where David envies the little birds that make their nests around the tabernacle. They can be near the house of God all the time while David couldn’t. O how he has a desire to be where God is to be in that place where God is worshipped, praised, and honored. You see, that is David's heartbeat. As I think about this Sunday being the Lord's Day where we will go to His house to worship and praise Him, I thought just as it was with David, that ought to be our desire and heartbeat as well. We need that same passion to want to be where the Lord is praised, worshipped, honored, and where His precious Word is preached as His children. Those who really want to linger near the Lord will find a way to be at church this Sunday no matter what. When we make a move toward Jesus, He will move toward us. James 4:8 says "Draw nigh to God, and He will draw nigh to you." Let's all find our place in the Lord's house tomorrow expecting God to move in our midst and do great things.
