The Harvest

I have been pondering on (Matthew 9:35-38) today where it says, "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest."
I was thinking what a sober reminder that the believer will be attacked and not always appreciated. The preacher will be talked about and not always thanked. The disciple will be stabbed in the back and disappointed and not always celebrated. Even our Lord Jesus suffered in what He came to do. To avoid being frustrated and discouraged saints, may we not focus on the response of others but on our responsibility as His children. God wants us to be faithful and to carry out those responsibilities, even if others at times don't respond in a positive manner. To avoid being frustrated and discouraged and even disappointed at times, may we not focus on the present results but the future reward. Let us Be faithful and know that the Lord of the harvest is responsible for both the workers and the results.
